How this calculator works
Bangladesh follows the University Grants Commission (UGC) 4.00 scale: A+ = 4.00, A = 3.75, A− = 3.50, B+ = 3.25, B = 3.00, B− = 2.75, C+ = 2.50, C = 2.25, D = 2.00, F = 0.00. Unlike SSC and HSC, university CGPA is credit-weighted — each course is multiplied by its credits, summed, and divided by total credits attempted. The target GPA planner tells you what semester GPA you need to reach a future CGPA goal, given your current CGPA and completed credits.
How to use it
- Enter each course's credits and the letter grade you received.
- Add as many courses or semesters as needed — the calculator tracks cumulative totals.
- Use the target-GPA planner to enter your goal CGPA and remaining credits, and the calculator tells you the required semester GPA.
Frequently asked questions
- Why is my university CGPA out of 4 and not 5?
- Bangladeshi universities follow the UGC standard, which uses a 4.00 scale. SSC and HSC use a separate 5.00 scale set by the Ministry of Education.
- How is CGPA different from semester GPA?
- Semester GPA is for one semester only. CGPA is the credit-weighted average across all semesters you have completed.
- Does the calculator handle retakes?
- Most universities replace the lower grade with the higher one. If your university uses this rule, only enter the retake grade — not both attempts.
- What CGPA is considered good in Bangladesh?
- 3.50+ is strong, 3.00–3.49 is solid, below 3.00 limits scholarship and job options. For study abroad, 3.25+ is often the practical floor.
- Can I convert CGPA to percentage with this tool?
- The result page shows an approximate percentage. For an in-depth explanation, read our CGPA-to-percentage guide linked below.
